We’re pleased to introduce the newest healthcare service in our network – Our Sage telehealth services

In the last two years, telehealth has been used by many Australians and it’s now an accepted part of our healthcare system. Telehealth allows people to stay at home and still get care when they are unwell. It also provides easier access to healthcare for people who are not able to easily attend a face to face consultation. 

Since we prioritise the patients in our medical centres for care and the government has tightened the criteria for bulk billed telehealth consults, we're pleased to be able to provide patients with another option through our alliance with Our Sage. 

The best form of general practice is face to face, however for when an in-person consult is not available, Our Sage is the next best alternative. Our Sage provides access to privately-billed telehealth consults (no Medicare rebate) from 7am to 11pm every day of the year. 

Our Sage’s mission to improve virtual patient care

There are plenty of online services offering telehealth services, but the standard of care can be very different from one to the other. When you go to the medical centre, you can trust you’re getting medical advice from an experienced Australian-registered GP. Unfortunately, the same isn’t always true when you use a telehealth provider. Our Sage takes the same patient-focused approach that Our Medical’s network of physical medical centres is known for and brings it online. 

If you’re an Our Medical patient considering using the Our Sage service you may have a few questions to start with: 

Are Our Sage telehealth consults Medicare bulk billed? 

All Our Sage telehealth consults are privately charged (no Medicare rebate) for Medicare and non-Medicare card holders. The standard fee is $45 for consults up to 10 minutes. More information on pricing is available on the Our Sage website. 

If I’m a patient of Our Medical, do I need to register a new patient for Our Sage? 

If you are already registered as a patient at Our Medical, you will still need to register as a new patient for Our Sage. This includes providing your basic contact information for the Our Sage network of healthcare professionals. Note that Our Sage is a separate service and does not have access to your medical record including results, at any Our Medical centre. 

What healthcare services is Our Sage suitable for? 

Our Sage offers multiple telehealth consultation types to suit, so you can speak to a doctor over the phone about a range of different issues. Along with general health advice and remote consultations, Our Sage can help you with:

How do I access Our Sage? 

Our Sage is a phone-based telehealth service. Patients can access Our Sage one of two ways:

1.    Patients also have the option to join the queue for a telehealth consult via your web browser. 

2.    You can download the Our Sage app to join the queue for a telehealth consult, manage other family members, and access your referrals, prescriptions and medical certificates – all in one place.

While virtual healthcare can’t surpass the quality of in person care, Our Sage does provide an alternative if you’re in need of remote care.
